bart mckay is an experienced producer and musIcian in the canadian music scene.
Bart began his career in the music industry in Manitoba and was fortunate to have opportunities as a musician playing with the Double Eagle Band, Steve Bell and others who went on to have successful careers. After attending the University of Manitoba, Bart felt the call back to music and toured with several acts. He later joined the Johner Brothers from Saskatchewan and found himself working in the studio eventually producing their recording projects. Soon requests from other artists presented themselves and due to success at radio, one recording project led to another.
Bart has recorded in studios in Vancouver, Los Angeles and Nashville and has worked with world class musicians and engineers such as Ed Seay (Martina McBride, Alabama), Jeff Balding (Rascal Flatts, Little Big Town), Kevin Churko (Shania Twain, Ozzy Osbourne), Glenn Meadows and Chris Farren. He currently owns and operates his own recording facility in the heart of the Canadian prairies bringing in the most talented and proficient session players from every corner of the country who both creatively inspire and challenge one another to collaborate in achieving the highest quality recordings.
Bart has participated as a musician, producer, engineer and/or mixer on countless singles that have been included in the top ten at the national market level during the last 20 years. He has personally received recognition and awards for his musicianship, producing achievements and recording studio while many projects for which he has made contributions have also been nominated and been successful in receiving Junos, and recognition from the Canadian Country Music Association, the Western Canadian Music Association, as well as the British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba Country Music Associations. Projects have included those in many different genres spanning country, pop, R & B, easy-listening, bluegrass and those for a variety of audiences from adult to children including a project intended for a network episode series in the United States. His roster also includes a Platinum album project for Gord Bamford and most recently several singles achieving Gold status for Brett Kissel.
Bart continues to not only gain but also contribute professional knowledge and input at industry workshops, national and provincial industry conferences and has participated in jury selections for provincial funding initiatives. He endeavors to stay current musically while also striving to utilize the most proficient and innovative techniques to produce the best possible projects in collaboration with the artists and management teams he works with. Bart emphasizes the importance of surrounding oneself with the most positive and talented colleagues in the industry while building relationships through teamwork, mutual support, respect and loyalty.
